What Are Ligands?
What Are Ligands?Chemical synthesis is a branch of chemistry, with chemical and biochemical composition characterized by the presence of certain essential chemicals which cannot be synthesized by other methods. It is defined as the process of creating chemical substances by making use of various chemical agents.Ligands are important in the course of Chemistry. If it is used with the wrong catalyst, it can throw off the synthesis process. In a way, there are two main categories of ligands; the ligands which consist of one or more of these substances, and the lands which are specific for a particular substance. In general, lands are non-protein molecules which can be found in many kinds of applications. They play a major role in the physical, chemical and biological processes in nature, and they are capable of absorbing the energy required to continue or complete them.Ligands are manufactured either chemically or biologically. Chemical synthesis means that the molecule of the ligand is created by an appropriate catalyst, whereas biological synthesis involves the recombination of amino acids and the formation of a new protein by an appropriate enzyme. Other ligands include sugars, lipids, enzymes, nucleic acids, enzymes, enzymes' line, which play a significant role in DNA synthesis, thiols, alcohols, ketones, and fatty acids. The actual structural unit of the macromolecule is referred to as the molecular bond, which is a set of hydrogen and oxygen atoms arranged in specific ways on the surface of the macromolecule. The term 'ligand' comes from the fact that the molecule of the ligand is the one whose bonds are in an unsaturated state. The name derives from the fact that the land must be physically attached to the receptor. This land has a variety of uses in medical science, food industry, and chemicals industry.Ligands are usually synthesized in the form of hydrocarbons and carbohydrates. Hydrocarbons and carbohydrates are derived from amino acids and fatty acids, respectively. The most important synthetic intermediates in the industry are deoxycholic acid, DHA, DHA, DPA, and ethylene glycol, all derivatives of the DHA ester.Ligands are used in many chemical processes, and their importance has increased greatly in recent years. Although many ligands are essentially poisonous, they are employed to make chemicals that have medicinal benefits.Chemistry is a complex field, and numerous techniques are developed to solve specific problems. In some cases, ligands are prepared at the same time as the chemical substance being made. For example, copper, nitrogen, and argon are commonly used as catalysts to allow the formation of various organic molecules. Other ligands are needed to help in the chemical synthesis of proteins, amino acids, and peptides.

Building Great Relationships with Your Students
Building Great Relationships with Your Students At the core of a successful teaching strategy is a good teacher-student relationship. When students feel connected to their teachers, theyre more invested and willing to put forth effort, which leads to better academic outcomes. Here are a few tips to help you build quality relationships with your students: Get to know them. Remember things about them. Show interest in who they are as people outside of your classroom. Pay attention to the little things. Let them get to know you. Share a little about yourself so the relationship doesnt feel one-sided. Be genuine. Ask their opinions. Treat your students with respect and show them by listening intently that you are interested in what they think and have to say. Establish a trusting relationship. Put them in the drivers seat whenever possible. Let them try new things and encourage them to take some risks. Set expectations and always follow through when you say youll do something. Express your passion. Your enthusiasm for what you teach and for helping students learn can be both inspiring and contagious. Have fun. Make your classroom a vibrant and enjoyable place to learn. Find ways to make lessons more engaging and interactive. Remind them often that youre there for help. Above all, make certain that your students know you care. Offer office hours throughout the week and encourage students to come in (or email you) if they need help or want to talk. The more you foster good relationships with your students, the more your students will feel comfortable in your classroom. This enhances your teaching, making for more effective instruction and deeper student learning.

How to Learn a New Language Fast 5 Tips That Actually Work
How to Learn a New Language Fast 5 Tips That Actually Work I studied Spanish for seven years in school, but all I can remember is hola and adios.Sound familiar?Learning a new language is one of the most enriching and rewarding skills we can acquire over a lifetime, but why is it so difficult? If you studied a language in school, why are you still unable to carry out a basic conversation? You dont want to spend another seven years re-learning a language the wrong way again, so here are five ways to learn a language fast! How to Learn a Language Fast1. Put Yourself in a Situation Where Growth Is InevitableIf you give yourself an option of using your language skills, chances are you will choose to not use them. Our brain will instinctively choose the decision that is simple and requires less thought. Like acquiring any new skill, learning a new language is going to require strong will. You must consciously lock yourself outside your comfort zone and not allow yourself to step back inside it for a while. Its not an easy decision, and may requir e some creative thought, but the results are well worth the effort. Many people say the best way to learn a new language is by living in the countryâ"this is not true! More often than not, when you are in that country, the natives will want to practice their English skills when they see you. We live in a world where English is a desirable and lucrative skill to have, so most foreign countries will have an English-speaking population, especially around the larger cities. In this situation, growth is not inevitable; it is still optional. But is it truly possible to keep ourselves in a situation where we have no choice but to use our language skills? Yes!When I moved to China, I was assigned to work at a school in a less industrialized part of the Shenzhen. Although it was a city of over 12 million people, it was rare to find any Chinese people fluent in English. Most of the time, I was the only foreigner within a given 5-mile radius. This was insanely frustrating at first, but it forc ed me to start learning the language. If I wanted to order food at a restaurant or find my way around the city, I had to start communicating with the locals. Within a few weeks, I acquired dozens of new, useful phrases that may have taken me months to learn otherwise. Not living abroad? No problem! There are still plenty of ways to make learning unavoidable. Some of these might include switching your cell phone or social media to the language you are studying, committing yourself to a language group or finding a conversation partner. You can even try visual cues by taping a list of new words to your bathroom and kitchen walls. You might also want to consider checking out Olly Richards Language Learning Foundations video course, which helps solve the commitment problem by walking you through the immediate concerns of learning a language to fluency. Its applicable to any language, but youll receive specific guidance, including homework to keep you on your toes.By forcing yourself into such situations where you must use your target language, youre guaranteed to learn faster.2. Value Fluency over AccuracyAnother way to learn at a more rapid pace is to value fluency over accuracy, which is one of the most difficult, yet powerful concepts to comprehend. First, lets clarify what I mean by fluency and accuracy.Fluency is the ability to express oneself easily and articulately. It means using the language smoothly in real time.Accuracy, on the other hand, is the ability to be correct and precise. It means communicating without any grammatical, vocabulary, tonal and other errors.Yes, these two are distinct entities. You can be fluent in a language without having 100% accuracy. Alternatively, you can have language accuracy while still not being anywhere near fluent. The ultimate goal when learning a new language is to use it fluently, not accurately. This does mean we should forget the importance of accuracy. Yes, you may have slip-ups when using your new language, and thats okay. Think about times when you didnt accurately follow the rules of your native language, but you were still perfectly understood by others. It happens more than we realize. When beginning to learn a new language, resist the urge to start learning as many words as possible. Resist the urge to say each sentence perfectly. Language cannot be learned from a textbook alone. Instead, focus on learning practical, colloquial topics and work your way up from there. Youll save yourself a lot of time and stress.3. Replace Cramming with Spaced Repetition SoftwareIn Mandarin, theres the saying: ???????? which means, Study hard every day and you will improve. But is it really that simple? When you do study on your own, it can be tempting to try cramming loads of new vocabulary into our brains and then waiting a while before we study again. While this may be effective in the short term, it is ultimately not the way to develop a long-lasting memory.Treat learning a new language different th an you would studying for an exam. There are more effective ways to memorize information that improve the likeliness of long-term learning, such as spaced repetition software (SRS). SRS are computer programs modeled after a process similar to using flashcards. These flashcards are generated by sophisticated algorithms that space out the time intervals indicated when each card will appear again on the screen. In other words, easier cards appear less frequently that harder cards, allowing users to spend more time studying the cards that are more difficult. The tough ones continue showing up until they are mastered, giving you the chance to actively learn them more efficiently than other learning styles.By replacing cramming with spaced repetition softwares, youll be saving yourself lots of studying time, and thus learn faster.Once you start using SRS, finding quality learning examples and sentences are going to become a chore. After all, its not enough to just memorize a lot of words. What you really need is a nuanced understanding of them, and you can only get that from actual examples. If you know what I mean, youll want to check out FluentU, the best way to learn a language with real-world videos. FluentU takes real-world videos like music videos, movie trailers, news, and inspiring talks, and turns them into language learning experiences. There is a video-based review learn mode, which of course has an SRS feature.FluentU has a wide variety of videos like movie trailers, funny commercials and web series, as you can see here:FluentU App Browse Screen.FluentU has interactive captions that let you tap on any word to see an image, definition, audio and useful examples. Now native language content is within reach with interactive transcripts.Didnt catch something? Go back and listen again. Missed a word? Hover your mouse over the subtitles to instantly view definitions.Interactive transcript for Carlos Baute song. You can learn all the vocabulary in any video with F luentUs learn mode. Swipe left or right to see more examples for the word youâre learning.FluentU Has Quizzes for Every VideoAnd FluentU always keeps track of vocabulary that youâre learning. It uses that vocab to give you a 100% personalized experience by recommending videos and examples. So with FluentU, you can learn from authentic, real-world content, and still enjoy SRS. Now you can focus 100% of your time on actually learning.Start using FluentU on the website with your computer or tablet or, better yet, download the FluentU app from the iTunes or Google Play store.4. Find a Language PartnerTheres no shame in asking someone else for help. So do it! Asking for help is an action you should be proud of. It shows you take your learning seriously and will do whatever it takes to become a master in your desired skill. With that said, having the support of another person will accelerate your learning immensely. No matter what stage you are at in learning your new language, fi nd someone who is also trying to learn the language. Schedule times to meet up and share any progress and offer feedback for one another. Exchange resources or tips that have been helpful to you. This can also be a great time to practice your skills with each other. Best of all, you can set goals and hold each other accountable to completing them by the next time you meet.5. Learn from (and Celebrate) Every MistakeIf you are living in an environment that allows you to practice your new language, congrats! Now get ready to make a lot of mistakes. Its best to leave your ego out of the situation when doing something as difficult as learning a new language. Leave any desires for perfection and any fears of judgment at the door. You can be the smartest person in the world, but if you are stubborn or defensive, youll shield yourself from endless opportunities for growth. Keep in mind that many natives will be grateful and appreciative of your attempt to learn such an important part of the ir culture. Congratulate yourself for even the smallest mistakes because it means you are trying. As you go about your day-to-day life and practice using your new language, resist the urge to judge each conversation as a success or failure. Its tempting to be our own worst critic and beat ourselves up for not remembering a particular word or knowing how to clearly express a thought. Instead, approach each interaction as a new opportunity for you to learn something.Reflect on each conversation and give yourself constructive feedback. Some things you might want to think about are:What words/phrase would have served me in that conversation? What new words did I hear/see?How could I more effectively have a similar conversation in the future? When you start embracing the ups and downs of the learning process, youll better enjoy and appreciate the journey, which sets yourself up for more learning opportunities.Remember, the success comes from the simple fact that you are trying. Use these ti ps and youll be well on your way to learning a new language with grace, speed and ease. Good luck!Frank Macri works with those looking to create off the beaten path lifestyles. Become A Super Intern 4 Tips To Stand Out
Become A Super Intern 4 Tips To Stand Out Image via Pixabay This seems like a no-brainer, but Iâm including it first because itâs an easy thing for interns to let slide. However, in the mind of the boss, there are few things more unprofessional than showing up to your internship late, turning in an assignment past the deadline (without an explanation), or walking into a meeting after itâs already started. Being on time a lesson that weâve been taught since we were children, so youâd think all adults would understand it by this point shows not only that you respect the company that youâre working for, but also that you respect your boss and your peers. In addition to that, Ruth Zive from The Muse says that punctuality also shows that you care, shows that youâre responsible, and helps reduce the stress that comes with rushing and scrambling. Be a busy bee. Image via Pixabay Without making your plate spill over because itâs so full of tasks, keep yourself busy. When you cross everything off of your to-do list but still have an hour left to spare, find something else to do. Ask your boss if they need anything taken off of their plate (they probably do). Improve upon something that youâve already completed (thereâs always room for improvement). Ask a peer if they need help with anything on their task list (yay for making new friends!). In addition, if you need to find something to do, itâs better to let your boss know when you are available rather than waiting until they walk by and realize youâre sitting idly by. Long story short, there is always something that you can do. Itâs fine and wise to take short breaks every now and then, but while youâre at your internship, you should mostly be interning. Donât be afraid to ask questions. Image via Pixabay By asking questions, youâre proving that you are genuinely invested and interested in your work. This makes you stand out as a strong and devoted intern. Additionally, engaging in conversation with employees who are above you, or even interns who have worked there for a while, is also a great way to network and socialize. Asking questions early on can also be hugely beneficial to you when youâre doing your work. When a possible issue comes up that youâve previously considered and asked about, you already know how to deal with it. That way, youâre less stressed and can focus on getting your work done and being the strongest intern that you can be! Meghan Casserly from Forbes suggests a couple of questions that every employee should ask on the first day on the job. A few include, âWhat should I know about office politics?â and âIs there anything weird about procedure and process?â This also means asking for feedback. Knowing how the boss thinks youâre doing and discovering what you need to improve upon not only shows that you care, but it also allows you to strengthen your inner intern. Treat your internship like a real job. Image via Pixabay You may be thinking, âWell, this is just an internship, not a job. I donât need to act like it is.â If that is what youâre thinking, youâre wrong. Pulling everything together, you need to treat your internship with respect. It can be difficult to treat your internship like a job when itâs unpaid, but itâs a waste of time if youâre not taking it seriously. Treating your internship like a real job means working as hard as you can. When youâre working as hard as you can, youâre on your way to becoming a strong intern. And who knows? Internships often lead to long-standing careers at the company. You could very well get a ârealâ job out of your internship!

Being Selfish 4 Tips to Better Your Mental Health by Taking Care of Your Body
Being Selfish 4 Tips to Better Your Mental Health by Taking Care of Your Body Image via Pixabay 2. Build a workout schedule: A schedule for your week will make your life so much easier and will take a huge burden off of your shoulders. As a college student, I understand that time management, as well as organization, are not things we excel at sometimes. Get yourself a planner or a dry-erase board (these can both be found at your local dollar store or Walmart) and organize your time into different slots such as your class/work schedule, study time, workout time, and relaxation time. This helps you stick to commitments and have set times for you to get your tasks done! Image via Pixabay 3. Meal prep: As I said, dinners as a college student can be super tiring and difficult. I can promise you, though, meal prepping can and will be your life saver if you allow it! Sacrifice the hour you spend mindlessly scrolling on Facebook or Twitter, watching Youtube videos, etc. and prep your meals for the week by cooking in bulk and storing them in Tupperware! Include a healthy starch like brown rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, etc. and then add a protein of your choice (any meat or plant based protein) and then any of your favorite veggies! There are countless combinations that you can put together and it will totally help when youâre feeling lazy about making dinner! Image via Pixabay 4. Find a workout buddy: Probably the simplest of them all, but easily the most effective, is finding a workout partner or buddy to support you through your workouts! Buddies can motivate you when youâre feeling lazy about getting yourself to the gym and can also make you feel less alone in your journey to better yourself. These tips are so simple that even the girl who didnât work out for 20 years of her life can do them! Do yourself a favor, be a little selfish, and invest the care into yourself that you would into anything else you take seriously. You wouldnât neglect to water a plant and expect it to grow, would you? pinterest.com

A Unit Conversion For Chemistry That is Easy to Do
A Unit Conversion For Chemistry That is Easy to DoIf you are interested in a unit conversion for chemistry, you can now use the internet to find the program that is right for you. There are now thousands of science and math programs on the web.Programs may vary in price. Some of them may be as simple as a textbook with online software. Others offer more extensive programs with some online tutorials. Many online programs are designed to be viewed on a PC. You will need an Internet connection to do this. Some students prefer this because it allows them to create worksheets. You can record a lecture for future reference. Most of these are divided into several units or subjects. The curriculum will teach you how to convert all of the units you know into a smaller number of units. For example, all you have to do is learn one unit. You do not have to memorize that many different units. It is important to know that some conversions are much easier than others. For example, the conversion from mass to mass or fluid ounces to the weight. These conversions are more difficult to make using computer software.Unit conversion is important for any student who wants to become a scientist. They need to understand how to convert elements to others. Other students will want to get an understanding of the principles of chemistry and how these relate to the real world. This is why the unit conversion for chemistry is becoming so popular. As a student you may find it a good idea to learn this. It is not required for graduate school but it can give you an advantage.
